Soil sampling is probably not the first thing you think of when it comes to building your dream home, but it is a critical component for evaluating whether soil can properly support a home’s foundation.
We met up with Steve from SRM Drilling, LLC as he drilled down 25 feet into proposed home foundations to collect soil samples in the newest section of Legacy’s Wilderness Shores project in Locust Grove, Virginia. The samples were then brought to the lab at Legacy Engineering where our geologist classifies and analyzes the soil composition for factors such as water content, plasticity, texture, and density. This information is then put into a geotechnical report that our engineers use to design the most accurate footers and foundation necessary for your new home.
