Regional Landfill

Stafford County, VA

Civil engineering legacy fredericksburg va

Legacy provided testing and inspection services for Stafford County and Resource International on a 700-acre regional landfill.   Inspection services needed to be provided in accordance with both Stafford County and civil plans for the project. During performance of Testing and Inspection services, Legacy was able to reduce compaction requirements and increase lift thickness which was critical to contractor being able to complete project on-time.  Provided certified inspectors and worked closely with both Stafford County and Resource International. Observed the placement of fill materials to create the bottom of the cell and test the soils for compaction in accordance with project specifications.
Performed related laboratory tests during construction to test the degree of compaction and completed paperwork for submission to the County.

Legacy Engineering serves as Town Engineer and Zoning Administrator to the Town of Occoquan to provide engineering, surveying, planning, and zoning services on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities have included regular erosion and sediment control inspection of active projects; served as staff for resolution of engineering concerns, including presenting to the Planning Commission and Town Council regularly.  Survey activities have included boundary verifications and topographic mapping for small capital improvements projects.

Legacy Engineering, as a subcontractor under Samaha Associates, PC, provides civil engineering and environmental engineering for Stafford Schools’ Department of Facility Planning, Design, and Construction relative to renovations, expansions, and construction on a per project basis. Specific services include site plan development; land planning; surveying; transportation planning; stormwater management; and environmental engineering to include water and sewer.

Eastover Gardens Firehouse 6 Legacy Engineering

The Eastover Gardens Firehouse #6 project involved the construction of a modern fire station to enhance emergency response capabilities within Henrico County. Legacy Engineering provided comprehensive civil engineering services as part of the design-build collaboration with Kenbridge Construction and Samaha Associates, contributing to the project's successful completion. The firehouse is a critical community asset, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support fire and rescue operations efficiently. Legacy Engineering’s scope of work encompassed all civil engineering tasks required for the planning, design, and construction phases of the project. Services provided included, but were not limited to:

  • Site survey and topographic data.

  • Final site plans, including grading, utilities, drainage, and parking layout.

Legacy Engineering serves as an On-Call consultant to King George County, Virginia, providing a full range of engineering, planning, and zoning services at the direction of the County Administrator. This ongoing partnership is designed to support the County’s day-to-day operations through responsive, professional, and certified technical expertise. Legacy provides support across multiple roles, including but not limited to: County Zoning Administrator, County Engineer, County Subdivision Agent, County VSMP (Virginia Stormwater Management Program) Administrator, and Erosion & Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspections, Plan Review. Legacy’s certified staff deliver these services in compliance with VDOT, DEQ, and DCR standards, ensuring regulatory adherence and streamlined project execution.

New Quarter Park

York County, VA

New Quarter Park in York County legacy engineering

Legacy Engineering was contracted to provide design services for a new pier and kayak launch at New Quarter Park in York County, Virginia. The project involves designing a boardwalk with a wood beam substructure supported by helical pile foundations, along with a wood superstructure deck and rail system. Services included:

  • Planning and design for a floating dock system, kayak launch, pier, gangway, and ADA accessible route

  • Engineered structural design of the proposed improvements.

  • Preparation of site plan and construction specifications, including topographic survey, erosion and sediment control plan, site plan, grading and drainage plan, ADA design, and structural plans to support the kayak launch.

  • Obtain required environmental permits for the proposed work.

  • Preparation of construction bid documentation used to solicit bids.

  • Preparation of a preliminary and final cost estimate.Plan approval coordination with York County and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)

  • Environmental review and site assessment services.
